What is permanent makeup?
Permanent make-up (PMU) is a treatment that applies make-up, such as eye liners, lip contours or eyebrows. When applying PMU, pigments are introduced just under the epidermis with the help of a thin needle.

When tattooing, the pigment is applied deeper than 3mm into the subcutaneous tissue. The pigments are encapsulated in this layer and this process cannot be reversed. At PMU, the specialist applies the pigments 1.5-2mm into the dermis. Some of the pigments are cleared away by the body and then by the lymph system.

 

How is the treatment going?
Before the pigmentation is started. It is discussed together what the color choice will be and how natural the permanent make-up will be applied. Only when you are completely convinced will the pigmentation start.

 

Result after the treatment?
Slight swelling of the skin may occur immediately after applying the permanent make-up. However, this swelling will disappear within the first hours. The result after the treatment is considerably darker than the originally selected color. This is because pigment is also absorbed through the epidermis. This layer disappears in the first week after the treatment. Any crusts will also disappear after a week. After this, the actual pigmentation can be admired. The result may now also appear a bit too light. This is supplemented in the post-treatment. The follow-up treatment or check-up takes place after 1 week.

 

How long does PMU stay?
On average between 2 and 5 years, but this period depends on the skin type and the nature of the treatment. The lighter the pigment, the faster it will fade. The skin's cell regeneration is also an important factor, along with UV rays. The faster your skin renews itself, the faster the pigment fades and the more exposure to UV radiation, the lighter the pigment becomes.
